What we collect, why, who helps us, and what you can ask us to do with it.
unlitpublishing.com is run by unLit Publishing LLC (UNLIT Publishing), 3721 W Michigan Ave, Suite 100, PMB 178, Lansing, MI 48917, United States. When this policy says "we" or "us", it means us.
To fulfil, ship and support your order, to answer you, to evaluate a submission you sent us, to send the newsletter you asked for, to keep the site secure and working, and to meet our legal and tax obligations. We do not use your information to make automated decisions about you.
We do not sell, rent or trade personal information. We do not share your email address with other authors, publishers or advertisers.
We use service providers to run the business: Stripe to take payment, Lulu to print and ship physical orders, Substack to deliver the newsletter, Google Analytics to count visits, Namecheap to host the site and Cloudflare to deliver and protect it. Each one receives only what it needs to do that work and handles it under its own privacy policy.
Manuscripts and proposals sent to us are read only by the people deciding on them. We do not publish, share or reuse a submission without a signed agreement with you, and we keep submission emails only as long as we need them to answer you and keep a record of what we received.
This site uses Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages get read. It sets first-party analytics cookies under Google's policy. There is no advertising and no social tracking here. Your cart, and the email and shipping address you type at checkout, are remembered in your own browser so they survive a page reload; clear your browser's site data to remove them.
We also run our own measurement tool, SitePulse, on our own server, to learn how pages get used and where they break: which pages are viewed, where people click and how far they scroll, page speed and errors. On some visits it records a replay of the page so we can spot confusing parts. It sets no cookies, does not store your IP address and never captures what you type into a form, because every field is masked in your browser before anything is sent. If your browser sends a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal, it records nothing. We do not sell or share this data, and we use it only to improve this site.
Order records are kept as long as tax and accounting law requires. Newsletter subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe. Email correspondence is kept as long as it is useful to answer you and to meet our record-keeping obligations. Server logs rotate on our host's schedule.
You may ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, subject to records we are legally required to keep. Email [email protected] and we will respond within 30 days.
This site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18.
The site is served over HTTPS and payment data is handled by a PCI-compliant processor. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
